Guide historic Tower of Pisa
The Tower of Pisa is the bell tower of the Cathedral in Piazza dei Miracoli. Its construction began in August 1173 and has continued (with two long interruptions) for about two hundred years, faithfully to the original project, whose architect is still uncertain.
In the past it was thought that the inclination of the Tower was part of the initial project, but now we know that it is not. The tower was designed "vertical" and has already started to lean during its construction. Both for his inclination for her beauty, since 1173 the Tower of Pisa has been given particular attention. During construction we tried to stop the tilt using different design solutions, some items have been damaged several times replaced, others more recent interventions have been carried out on the ground to significantly reduce the inclination and the Tower of Pisa to ensure a long life.
